Montgomery Botanic Center

2026 Donation to Montgomery Botanical Center

In 2026, the South Florida Palm Society donate $15,000 to Montgomery Botanical Center for their Plant Exploration Fund. This donation was matched 100% by the Lin Lougheed fund, so the contribution increased to $30,000.

The Montgomery Botanical Center is a living research resource. Montgomery’s primary visitors are botanists, particularly those who study palms and cycads. It also serves entomologists, geologists, and scientists in many other disciplines. Specializing in living plant research collections, Montgomery maintains genetically diverse population samples of wild-collected palms and cycads.

We are very grateful for the support from MBC. The researchers from Montgomery have been incredible guest speakers at our meetings. In recent meetings, we have had the great pleasure of their experts share their research expeditions and their knowledge, including Dr. Joanna Tucker Lima, Daniel Tucker, Andrew Street, Vickie Murphy and Dr. Patrick Griffith. In addition, MBC has been very generous in donating palms and cycads for our auctions.
